MS Research Home

Being that I have MS and am a bit of a nerd (currently working on my PhD thesis at Harvard), I have done a fair amount of research in my spare time about MS. My intention for this website is to provide a place where new MS research will be posted, and I will also comment on what I find interesting and also the "take home messages" of the research for those that just want some quick information. My personal favorite hint for staying on top of research: With google, create a weekly alert for “Multiple Sclerosis Research”. Every week you will get a summary list of all the recent internet articles with these key words. Most of them will be related to research though some will be about celebrities etc. At that point it is easy to sort through to what interests you. I highly recommend watching this 15 min TED talk which discuss a lot of the bias in medical research studies. Part 2:   My personal opinion on my opinions (please read):  I have no background in medicine, medical research, or pharmacology. As such, everything I post here should be taken with a grain of salt. I highly recommend finding an MS specialist who is knowledgeable about the current research and is able to explain to you the intricacies of various findings. Furthermore, my opinions may be biased because of the fact that I have MS and so I maybe more hopeful or less hopeful about certain treatments due to my personal experience and bias. As well, I have noted several times where I have changed my mind on how I am personally treating my MS over the past 3 years. Therefore, I want to be very clear that this information is only intended as a sharing of knowledge and information from things that I have come across and have found interesting. My opinions are only that, opinions, and are subject to change and may not be accurate and are certainly not meant to treat, diagnose, prevent or cure MS. Please use the information on this site only inconjunction with your medical team. I’d like to emphasize I am not saying this to simply avoid liability, I also fully do not trust all my own opinions here and try to confirm research with my own excellent MS specialist. The best thing you can do is to find an MS specialist who has a similar outlook and attitude toward treatment as you do.
